This past June, the University of Coimbra hosted IBERTRIBA 2025, one of the most prominent events in the Iberian Peninsula dedicated to the field of Tribology — the science that studies friction, wear, and lubrication between contacting surfaces.

The event brought together researchers, academics, and industry professionals and had AB Chem — a company within the Alves Bandeira Group — as one of its main sponsors, represented through its lubricants brand, AB Lubs.

Over the course of two days, the congress promoted the exchange of knowledge and technical debate on the latest scientific and technological developments in the field of lubrication. Among the featured international speakers, particular emphasis was given to the presentation by Francisco Llaría, who introduced the CTR – Centro Tecnológico Riojano, one of the research and development centers of the Alves Bandeira Group. Based in Spain, the CTR is one of the most advanced laboratories in the industrial chemistry sector and is responsible for the development of exclusive lubricant formulations, such as those comprising the AB Chem product portfolio.
